About Paolo Di Orazio

Born in Rome, in 1966.

He’s the horror and splatterpunk pioneer writer in Italy with his debut book Primi delitti, condemned by Italian Parliament for entrapment. Horror writer Association Active Member since 2015, he’s an author of horror fiction and comic books in Italian since 1987. In English, he has published comics for Heavy Metal and short stories for the books Dark Gates (with Alessandro Manzetti, Kipple, 2014), My Early Crimes (Raven’s Headpress, 2015), The Monster, the Bad and the Ugly (with A. Manzetti, Kipple 2016). Other short stories have also appeared in The Beauty of Death Vol.1 and Vol. 2 (Independent Legions, 2016-’17), Year’s Best Hardcore Horror Vol. 2 (Comet Press, 2017), The Big Book of Blasphemy (Necro, 2019). His short story “Hell” is on The Best Horror of the Year list by Ellen Datlow (2015). He won the Italian Premio Laymon 2017 (Laymon Award) with his novella Putridarium. His first novel in English Dark Mary (Independent Legions, 2018) reached the StokerCon® preliminary ballot. The book is blurbed by masters Lucy Taylor (“Di Orazio proves himself again a master of Splatterpunk”) and Jack Bantry (“Italy’s answer to Clive Barker”).

He has also translated to Italian authors such as Jack Ketchum, Ramsey Campbell, Richard Laymon, Joe Hill, and H.P. Lovecraft.
