About Ian S. Bott

I am a public servant by day, and a science fiction author by night when my dark side emerges to wreak murder and mayhem on unsuspecting imaginary worlds.

I use my lifelong love of both science and art to bring new worlds to life for readers to escape to. Back in the real world, I escaped from Britain in 2004 but still miss proper pubs, pork pies, and real bacon.

I now live in beautiful British Columbia with my wife, two children, and assorted pets.

A gripping story that will have you on the edge of your seat. Lots of actions, villains wanting to take advantage of the locals, and locals fighting back in their own unique style. The unique worldbuilding is something that really intrigued me, as well as the unique culture that will make you wanting to know more.
Mikel is certainly my favorite character.

In The Long Dark we discover the universe is run by ruthless corporations that financially back colonies on distant planets. The goal is simple, the colonies must profitable, or they will fail, and even if they are profitable it is almost impossible to escape the contractual bondage to the corporation. This science-fiction world build is inventive and fresh, and the mechanical detail in it reminded me of The Martian; another novel I enjoyed. Great suspense with some excellent twists, The Long Dark does not disappoint.
