I had a great childhood, but I had many friends who did not. Reading this outstanding book gives me insight into their lives and makes me wish I could have done something to help. I love the way the author writes in short, poignant chapters that stir emotions with story after story of an abused child's life and how he copes with it. The resilience of this child is inspiring. This book is a must-read. I hope the author writes a sequel so we can find out what happens to the child after he grows up.
