Ronald D Maloney was a student at the Colored Orphanage, later re-named the Central Children's Home, for thirteen years-from the first grade at age seven to his departure for the military in 1972. The orphanage's address, however, remained his home address until 1976. He earned his Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, California; Bachelors in Social Work from the North Carolina State University at Raleigh, North Carolina; Associate of Arts from the University of Maryland-European Division and post-graduate work in business administration at John F. Kennedy University at Orinda, California. He has worked in the field of Behavioral Health and related fields for thirty years. He currently works in a critical care unit at a major trauma center in Northern California. He was the first bi-racial child transferred from a white rural family setting to a black institutional childcare facility in the Deep South.
