About Varian Krylov

Since her girlhood in a sunny coastal town in California, Varian Krylov has nurtured a love of words and a curiosity about the deep, dark forces at work in human nature, especially sexuality, and how they often paradoxically twine with our tenderest impulses. Her stories tend to explore the sometimes fine line between what arouses, and what frightens, what we’re driven to, and what we’re ashamed of.

This should have been a 5* read, as it's got everything I like in an erotic story. However, it ends too soon, much too soon. It's such an abrupt ending, I felt really let down by the author. If you're out there 'Varian' please get back here and finish writing this story. Shame.

So I guess Conrad is planning on kidnapping girls and breaking in his own sex slave (apparently this is the prequel to another book, called ABDUCTION). Also, I find it hilarious (not ha-ha hilarious, but oh my god, what the fuck are you doing hilarious) that all these abductors and posterboys for Megan's Law are always good-looking in these stories. I'm not sure if you ever actually have made use of Megan's Law and looked up the information on convicted sex offenders (unfortunately, I have had to), but a lot of pedophiles and sex perverts have a look. And that look is not GQ so much as, well, this:

Sexy, huh?

Anyway, before Conrad goes about putting the "sensual" in non-consensual, he wants to get some "practice" seducing virgins. How does he do this? He goes into a coffee shop and asks out a bespectacled and naïf girl, who he then pushes into a sexual relationship that makes her frightened and aroused. Because Conrad is just a little too forceful for comfort. (But then, isn't that usually the point?)

The sex scenes are actually pretty well done. Definitely not for the faint of heart, though. There's no rape or non-con, but some of the scenes are pretty dubious regarding consent. Also, messy, messy, messy. This isn't clean, wholesome WASPy sex. Oh no. Bodily fluids get smeared around, and there's lots of dirty talk and impropriety. Maiden aunts everywhere would definitely not approve.

I'm not really sure what else to say about this book. I haven't read the sequel. I'm not sure I will, since I my ebook budget is currently nil. I'm a little annoyed that the last twenty pages of CONRAD'S FIRST GIRL are advertisements for two of the author's other books. Considering that this will likely be many potential readers' first exposure to her work, that strikes me as incredibly unprofessional.

Put teasers in your blog. Put actual story in your books.

2 stars.

Very captivating story of a reluctant girl's "first time".

I got this when I realised it was a prequel to her other book `Abduction`. It was good to get into the mind set of one of the main characters and if I had not read the other book already it would have got my interest and encouraged me to read more

This was a very good read, hot and sexy yet well written. I agree with the reviewer that the girl deserves a better first time but I liked reading it! My only criticism is that it's too short but I didn't realize it was a prequel. Off to check out Abduction...

Pretty well written. I am not really into humiliation, so it doesn't sit very well personally. I am still debating if I want to get Abduction.

Well written, erotic even as it is depressing. Poor girl deserves better for her first.

This is one of the best erotic stories I've read. Better than Abduction, in my opinion.

Are there really women this stupid? I guess so or the author is one sick puppy.

I didn't really enjoy the humiliation aspect of this story, but that's just me. It was hot and well written (I guess I like a little more romance in my stories, and this one has very little romance at all).

Hot, hot, hot. Although the title doesn't seem to match the story--I'm sure she wasn't his first, even if he was her first. Would love to read of their next 'date.'

This was very well written and thought out. I did not realize while reading this book that it was a prequel to “Abduction” as the book stands on its own so well. It does make me kind of eager to read Abduction though just to find out what the hell is going through Conrad’s head. He is one of the most bizarre people, and even though he never harms Elsie or forces her to do anything, she does it all of her own free will. He reminds me a little of Christian Bales character in American Psycho, with his stunningly good looks and charming ways, yet he has this twisted darker side to him.
Great Story! I am left wondering a bit about Elsie though and how she comes out of all this mentally.

There is an air of forcefulness in the text, but he never touches or threatens her explicitly, which I found hot.

She finds herself frightened, humiliated and turned-on.
If you've had fantasies of force and worried about them coming true, you can easily put yourself in Elsie's place emotionally.

This is a prequel to Abduction by the same author, but works well as a stand alone.

The implied force and humilation is never explicit, he leaves the choice to continue up to her. It makes for a very hot read.
