It has also been a privilege to have read your book, Voices from Armageddon. The realities of life in a battle-ridden valley, a vortex of historical violence for 4,000 years, are poignantly conveyed in your treasure of a book. By authentically and intimately recording the diverse voices of those who share a collective destiny — their hopes, their fears, their suffering, their bravery — you have given each of us a very personal window into the nuanced struggles of a heroic people. You have helped us to see the differences more clearly and embrace the effort to bridge these differences. We stand side-by-side with the Jewish and Arab doctors in the Emek surgery theater who set aside their emotions and do what humanely needs to be done. You are a wonderful writer, but more than literary ability, you touch the heart of the matter and your conclusion is deeply inspiring.
