Right from the start, you are drawn into the main character's perfect life, which is quickly snatched away from him during a violent act delivered in a foreign land. Excellent descriptive work, really allows you to feel Kurt's pain and agony during this time of sorrow. Later, you will find this loyal border guard in his traditional fight of “good versus evil” distressed once again when he now discovers certain unbelievable facts about his very own employer. Once this revelation is evaluated by an informed secret caucus, the story takes another transformation wherein it becomes of paramount importance for a citizen-lead militia to draw on their historical rules and norms so that they can protect their cherished homeland and way of life. What's a loyal G-man to do? Change the "G" to "V" seems to be the only viable option! You will be taken on a continuous journey where the lines of integrity and honesty become blurred with treachery and deception, until you are not sure where you stand on the issues. There are many ethical questions swirling in these southern winds of change. As the saying goes, "It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government” and without doubt, our hero Kurt assumes this role with zeal and tenacity to carry out this new form of Justice at the Gates of Walhalla! There are lots of twists and turns that keeps the reader's interest from beginning to end.
