A very moving read. Brill ending, and it makes you think about what happens to the horse in all those cowboy films when the rider is shot from his mount.

A moving tale about a man approaching the end of a hard, unfulfilling life. A final return to a place of mixed memories brings honest reflections on choices made and chances missed. A sad, wistful, and wonderfully written story.

What a beautiful story.
Allison Merritt wove a loving tale of companionship between a cowboy and his horse. I had tears in my eyes by the time I read the last word.
Allison Merritt, you have my attention. I look forward to reading more from this wonderful author.
