The Frenchman’s Reluctant Surrender- a Review

The Frenchman's Reluctant Surrender is a sexy fast paced read written in the Harlequin Romance style of handsome Alpha men and the beautiful headstrong women that they love. Billionaire Frenchman Jeanluc DeLeon is in New York City to set up an subsidiary office for his French company. When Deleon first sets his eyes on the beautiful Iris Falconer he must have her. Marriage is out of the question, he's been hurt before, but he must have her as his own and tries to persuade her to become his mistress. Iris Falconer is attracted to him but afraid of getting her heart broken. Jeanluc Deleon gets what he wants and he wants Iris Falconer. He gives her an ultimatum that she cannot refuse.

The story is written in the Harlequin Romance formula so it was a quick read and I was surprised that I liked it more than I thought I would. The author has a great voice with a strong attention to detail. She has a knack for world building and description; I think she could do just as well in any other genre. She gives us a glimpse into Iris's life as a business woman in the florist world. I loved her relationship with her gay business partner Alex. There was a friendship there that would have been great to read in a longer single title romance. The romance between Jeanluc and Iris was the standard Harlequin Romance that gave us the predictable happy ending. The author knows how to write a category romance and I hope someday she will stretch her writing skills to try single titles or other genres.
