Van der Spuy Brink studied to be a geologist at the University of Stellenbosch. Spent a decade in mining information management followed by several years in international business development in amongst others Vietnam, Peru, the USA, Kazakhstan and Australia. Later managed innovation for Kumba Resources.
A MBA lecturer on strategy and innovation for the past 12 years and guided many companies in strategy development and corporate storytelling, including members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. As public speaker on technical and business matters addressed large groups including several graduation ceremonies. Acted as event chairman during the visit of the Governor General of Canada.
For ten years attended the University of Life as a part time constable in the South African Police Service and obtained the highest qualification, after more than 100 evaluated speeches, from Toastmasters International majoring in the subjects Storytelling and Humour. A several times Toastmasters’ Southern African semi-finalist in Humorous Speaking and Afrikaanse Skouspel.
Studied post graduate in group behaviour psychology at Unisa. Involved as mentor with Stellenbosch’s Innovation lab.
Cofounder of Personera.com, winning the 2009 Microsoft Enablis award in the media category and the minister of science and technology’s award for systems design. Raise R20m venture capital in the process. Also co-creator of Third Circle Asset Management with R1bn under management.
