About Bobby Mathews

Bobby Mathews attended Troy University, where he majored in journalism and minored in theater and English. His checkered past includes stints as a reporter and editor for daily newspapers, where he won awards for his writing, editing and leadership. No, he has no idea what the contest judges were smoking, either.

He's also been a bartender, paralegal, and bum, occupations—or sidelines—that creep into his stories and novels.

"I write weird stories about monumentally fucked-up people," he says. "That's what interests me. I hope it interests other readers, too."

Mathews lives in Birmingham, Alabama.

Surprisingly good storytelling. Interesting protagonist, fast-paced, nice story-line. Couldn't stopped reading.

I enjoyed the story line and characters very much....The writer could start at the beginning, feel in the gaps, and have a best selling novel on his hands!!

I'm really in awe of Matthews' writing. I find his short stories to be powerfully interesting and entertaining.

I'm his number one fan (but in a good, positive sense [ha-ha].

Take the time to read just one of his short stories, and I think you'll be convinced that is talent is real and unique.

-- Still waiting for a novel.......(and more short stories, of course).

Enjoyable read. The characters, especially Eddie, are frustrating. Must be well described to bring out an emotion like that.

Fun little short story with a nice twisting surprise ending. I always enjoy when a story surprises me. True to life though, money certainly doesn't solve everything.
