About Literary Underground

Who are the Literary Underground?

We are writers.
We are that before and above all else. We are also readers, editors, promotional masters, and graphic artists. We bring our talents together to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of a publishing house; we prepare our members’ manuscripts for public consumption. None of our members have given up their rights to their product, and each member maintains full control of the way in which their work will reach their readers – but while our members are self-published, they are never alone, and their work will show the polish of the attention of a group of professionals.
We can be irreverent or respectful, disciplined or lazy, cheerful or surly – but we are never incompetent.
We are the quiet revolution in the literary world.

Can I join the Underground?

Membership in Literary Underground is not easy; each of our members has to support the publishing efforts of all the others. If you're interested in membership, contact us at We will carefully review all applicants and accept those who can demonstrate the willingness to contribute to the group, and that they have the time to give to the endeavor.

Where can I buy Literary Underground titles?

We will post links to each of our members’ works in the Store. Keep your eyes peeled.

Who writes the blog?

Our members, whenever they feel like it. If they feel they have something to contribute, it is submitted to the blog, reviewed, edited, and posted.

Where do I get more information?

Send an e-mail to We’re friendly, but many of us have other, bill-paying gigs we have to dedicate ourselves to during the day, so answers may be a bit slow in coming. Please be patient.

While I have never been disappointed by the authors of Lit U, seeing such varied stories by the authors themselves focused on one central theme is intriguing. Though both Time and Unearthed are both rather short in length, they are a joy to read and easy to finish in the course of an afternoon.
Unearthed was my favorite of the two anthologies. I adored almost every story in this collection. I think that it will appeal to readers of any genre. It’s very straightforward mostly contemporary fiction. My favorite story with an author that I was not familiar with was called Hell Hath No Writer’s Block Like A Kitten Bored by Lael Gardner-Stalnaker. It was an adorable story that was very truthful to how kittens have a knack for getting into trouble.
I think that these are very entertaining anthologies and readers will find several stories that they will like in these collections, if not adoring all of them. I would read more from Lit U authors for sure.
