The story: excellent. I'm so intrigued by this transmutation concept. I'm also a fan of psychological things.
The writing: eh. I could definitely see where the author was going with the writing style. Thriller type, Crichton, King, Deaver. But it seemed, I don't want to say juvenile, but not as good as I had hoped it would be. Very on par with someone writing a first novel for the first time.
Overall: fairly good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My perceived direction of the story was blown away by twists, turns, and excitement - peppered with fresh and unique ideas. I enjoyed the characters and their personalities, they felt well thought out. While some items in this novel are in the realm of science fiction, nothing is too "out there". Everything has a good sense of being grounded in reality, giving the book a more realistic feeling, while still being very unique. A very superb read, especially considering the price of admission for this outstanding ride. Any fan of Sci-Fi will be pleased. I definitely will be reading and purchasing more from this author.
