Christy has returned home to Helena, Montana after her disastrous debate trip to Washington, DC. She had originally thought that kids at her regular school would treat her differently after her trip. They didn't. They still pick on her just as much as they did before her trip, even though Christy feels so much different about herself, and has proven that she is able to make friends. She's had an especially bad day one day, when all of a sudden, she spots Alex after school. He walks down the stairs to her, gives her an amazing kiss in front of all the popular kids, and they drive off into the sunset in his rented convertible. Well, that's how it feels at first. Christy has sworn to give up Alex and choose Rick instead, because she knows that Rick is a better match for her, unfortunately her heart just won't listen. Alex shows her a wonderful time, even showing up at her house so her parents can question him. Christy knows that there's now way the terrorists can still be after her, but she starts seeing strange things, cars that don't belong and disappear quickly, and she still feels as though she's being watched. She and Alex go on a hike, and they are kidnapped. This is just the beginning of the adventure for Christy, taking her places from being kidnapped, to being dead to her family and in the witness protection program. All of this will change Christy, but will it be for the better. I really enjoyed reading this book! Christy seems like a real person, she thinks and acts how I would. I really liked how she was told to kind of lose herself by one agent, but then another one told her that she needed to be true to herself. I liked the idea of not really losing yourself, even though you may have to do things that kind of take you out of yourself. The book was well written, the characters are amazing! I didn't want to put it down until the story was over. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

She has the guy. The terrorists have been taken care of and she is on the brink of being popular. Life is GREAT! Until they find her. Now she must run and leave behind everything she knows, including herself.
This is quite the ride. I was going to take my time working my way through this book, but I had to finish it. I really felt for Christy as she enters the witness protection program and leaves behind everyone she knew and loved in order to protect not only herself, but them as well. She's told she can never again be who she was.
To help protect her, she is trained in the arts of protecting herself. And boy does she need it!

Once you pick up "Protected", you won't be able to put it down! Cindy Hogan does a great job of hooking the reader into the twists and turns of the plot. She captures the feelings of a teenager in a difficult situation and pulls her readers along for the ride. "Protected" is a great continuation of "Watched" and it leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the next installment of the "Watched" series!

Review: "Watched", was unique and so elegantly written that it did no less than amaze me with the brilliance of this author. In a world where danger is real and there are bad people just waiting to hurt you at every turn, Cindy M. Hogan still manages to weave in the hope that is found in believing in a higher power.
Christie is is a teen like no other. Though she sees herself as far less than average, she is brilliant, stunning, and a fighter. In this amazing sequel to "Watched", Christie finds herself placed in witness protection and realizes her nightmare is far from over... in fact it's truly just beginning. Still unsure if her heart lies with Alex or Rick, she is thrown into the situation of losing them both yet again. The terrorists are hot on her heels and every false move could mean the end if she cannot let go of her past and become someone new, someone completely different from who Christie could ever imagine being. She has lost everything and has no choice but to start anew.
Where will she end up, who will she become, and will she ever see her family again?
This is one of the very best YA series I have ever read and it's definitely worth picking up. I think I love this series most because of the real-life drama and situations these teens are put in. The situations are indicative of what could truly happen in today's world and that's what makes it so exciting and thrilling. Packed with a combination of heart-wrenching teen angst and heart-stopping action with the threat of some really bad people, this is one you don't want to miss!

The second book in the Watched trilogy, Protected by Cindy Hogan, is a suspenseful, romantic, and intriguing novel about a young woman who has been thrown into witness protection. Most of her being “protected,” is learning how to defend herself, keep herself hidden, and realizing who to really trust as she is constantly in danger. As she lives on a risky edge she is confronted with an ever changing environment and identity. As she must bend her personality to fit into the characters she is expected to play she learns that the only way to adapt to so many changes is to stay true to who she really is inside. This is a riveting novel that I couldn’t put down until the very last word and now I am eagerly waiting for the final installment!
