About J.R. Locke

I was born and raised in New York. I worked on Wall Street during the late 1980's and have operated clubs and bars in New York and Miami since the 1990's and through the New Millennium into the present day. Along the way I met a lot of the characters who live in my novels.

This reminded me of a cross between classic noir and the movie, Wallstreet. To me, it had a gritty feel of a 60s pulp even though it's set in the late 80s, but it was a contrast that worked very well for the story. Through the ups and downs of Jack's situation, you get to see life from many different angles, and yet they all seem extremely realistic, like the author had lived through this himself. The energy and tension remain pretty high paced throughout so I never found my interest waning. It was one of those books where you keep saying to yourself 'Just one more chapter' until you've reached the end of it. Loved it.
