Hi there, wonderful readers!
My name is Laurean Brooks, And I LOVE it when a story comes together!
I live in rural northwest Tennessee, a stone's throw from the Kentucky state line. Besides writing, I enjoy singing in the choir, reading, browsing flea markets with hubby, and walking in the woods with my two loveable Labs, Yipper and Riley.
After a fifth grade teacher announced to the class, "Someday, Laurie will become an author," I itched to create spunky, unique characters and outlandish situations--always with humor.
I'll introduce you to charming heroes who live to ignite the tempers of spitfire heroines, and to sassy heroines who are always ladies...though they do frequently choke on their own shoe leather.
You can be assured that all my stories will have a G rating. So snuggle up with your daughter, download a story, and get caught up in a sweet romance. Laugh, cry, relax, and enjoy!
Keep checking back. My shortstory "Jonquils in the Snow" will soon be posted here at Smashwords. I loved writing this one. The words flowed like honey. Hope your reading enjoyment equals mine while writing it.

FORGIVENESS AND HEALING IS ONLY A PRAYER AWAY
I enjoyed this story of two people who both had suffered loss with the death of a spouse. Amanda Wilkes lost her husband and his lover in an automobile accident. Dealing with his infidelity she feels as even God has turned His back on her. Attorney Jake Tyler and his son Lance have been dealing with the sudden death of his wife Melissa during a medical procedure. The character and dialogue in this story have each suffered loss and heartache. Can Amanda learn to trust another man? Does Jake have the heart to give to another woman? Lance knows he wants a Mommy and he knows Jake needs a wife. I love how Amanda interacts with Lance and Jake. Seeking forgiveness and allowing God to heal is the key to happiness. There are some interesting twist and turns in this story. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

I love Ms. Brooks' stories. I love how real she makes the characters, the settings, the situations.
In 'A Decision of Trust' we meet Amanda. Amanda is a widow from a marriage to a no-good cheating husband. Jake Tyler is the handsome lawyer that hires Amanda to work in his office. Jake is a widower, left to raise his seven-year-old son.
Amanda needs to learn how to trust men, Jake has to learn how to love another woman other than his dead wife.
One scene that I rooted for was when Amanda cleaned out her husband's clothes, took them to the garage's cement floor and beat them with a sledge hammer. Oooh, wouldn't you love for that to have been his head? LOL
Then there was the senior secretary, Corinne. Jake tries to "explain" her nasty character is because she'd had a rough childhood. No, Corinne was nasty because Corinne wanted to be nasty. You want to scratch your head and think, "Jake, you're supposed to be a smart lawyer but you can't figure this devil-woman out?" Like me tell you, that was so like a man that I wanted to shake him!
This is a beautifully written story of sweet romance with themes of forgiveness and acceptance. Trust your decision. Buy this book.

God has used this talented Author to speak to those of us who have found it easier to run from painful past issues than deal with them.
This is a delightful love story, but more than just penned words, the message contains a healing salve for broken hearts.
Well written Laurean!
