About Melody Hewson

I am an author, a teller of stories both long and short, real & imagined. So for the sake of my own amusement, here’s a bit of information about me, written in the form of a short story. Whatever information you can gleam from these words is what you are worthy of knowing about it's creator.

Hazel eyes stared up at a cloudless sky before falling to take in the house below it. To some, it would be judged by its flaws ; it's fading paint and scuffed floors. But to her it was perfect. It was hers. And it was home. To one side, a wild forest whispered sweet nothings in the breeze, which was answered by some distant bird's call. "Life is good." She said softly to no one. "And today is a good day."
The sudden squawking of wild fowl pulled her attention to the shaggy black and white dog that rarely strayed far from her side.
"God damn it, Jackalope! Quit chasing those turkeys!"

Review by: Eric Lisitsa on July 10, 2012 :
I'm reluctant to read anything to do with werewolves or vampires lately - everybody knows why. That kept me skeptic at the beginning, till I was hooked by the freshness of this book's narrative.

It's rewarding to see mythical creatures treated not as monsters or super powered heroes, but as strange beings that reflect ourselves - what they were created for, in first place.

It's an excellent book.

I signed up to Smashwords JUST for this book. My best friend let me read it on her kindle and I decided I wanted a copy of my own.
As the previous reviewer said, this is not your usual story of a guy who gets attacked one dark and scary night after hearing the local legends about some mysterious beast that everyone is afraid of.
This book is about a guy who embraces his inner wolf. The second half of the book kept me glued to the screen of my kindle. I loved the subtle relationship between Drako and Knight, their gentle teasing with nicknames that were more accurate than they realized. And Kaine's slowly deteriorating mental state made me really feel for him.
The ending was completely unexpected, but it was great! I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that I had several endings in mind as I read, and none of them were right. But it was so perfect.
There needs to be a sequel! Sadly, the author has already stated there won't be, which just makes me want to reread this book all over again, like revisiting old friends.
This is a book that deserves readers, and this is an author that deserves fans. Count me as one of them!
