About Bonnie Mutchler

Bonnie Mutchler was a native of south west Iowa. She lived in southern Missouri for a time before returning to her roots, where she spent the last years of her life with her children, and her pets; Momo, Blinky, and John Jones. A lover of art, she was both a painter and writer, as well as a prolific poet who wrote hundreds of poems from her childhood on, several of which have been published in various anthologies. Sadly, she passed February 15, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, including some previously unpublished poetry collections, and a legion of family and friends who miss her. May she live on in her works.

A lot of the poems in this anthology are just fantastic. There are a couple of poems that express sentiments that I don't agree with, but even these are well-written and may not reflect the opinions of the author. This anthology covers a wide range of different subjects, which makes it that much more compelling.

These are structured poems that have rhyme and meter, which is so refreshing in an age where unstructured poems are the norm in academia and the poetry world.

I love sea stories and was very happy to find the title poem in this book is a tale about a sailor who heads across the seas to find the mythical worm. My favorite lines in the poem were these:

There was nothing more
But a senseless roar
As he rode on numbing waves
That swept along,
With a mocking song,
To the horror of his grave.

Those are great lines of poetry, especially for me a lover of sea stories.

Very good poetry. Interesting read. Filled with emotion, descriptiveness, and Imagism.

An amazing book of poetry. A friend of mine sent this to me (he's on the East coast). I'm proud to live in the same state as this author. I'm sick of pretentious bullshit poetry. This is the real deal.
