Berliner has written a vivid and moving account of his relationship with Chogyam Trungpa. It is skilfully interwoven with the story of Berliner's relationship with his own father, a pediatrician and hospital administrator. In many ways, Berliner's story is the archetypal boomer narrative--college, drugs, Vietnam draft fears, back-to-the-land utopianism, disillusion, encounter with the guru. What distinguishes Berliner's story is the maturity and intelligence of his writing and the authenticity of his commitment to the buddhist path. Highly recommended.
