About A.M. Gray

I started writing fanfiction a couple of years ago as mrstrentreznor. I thought it was a wonderful concept to take existing characters and flesh them out a little more. Or to write the scenes that didn’t get filmed or written in the original work. I have given away more than a million words on fanfic; but I discovered that I had a million more in my head. And they were my words, my characters and my stories.
I am an overeducated Australian single mother. I feel I should be witty and informative about how many children and household pets I have, but really the chickens lay eggs and I am yet to see what use the teenagers are.
I also read a lot and play my music loud... really loud.

I won a short story writing competition. My winning entry for the bitingduckpress and storied competition, ’Protein’ was posted on the Storiad site, here:

Only 500 words. It’s actually quite hard to get ideas across in that few words. But I must have done it and they commented that I made them laugh, too.
Thanks to both http://bitingduckpress.com/ and storiad for running the competition.

This book had potential, but it could have been better. Everything happened much too easily; no failed attempts, no moments of tension where you're not sure if they'll make it... It shouldn't have been that easy! Also, curse words were used too freely for a book with no adult content rating (admittedly only really near the start when Andrew was drunk, but that still doesn't make it right... A book with words like the "F" word in it should have a warning).
