It is 7:00 PM and it is raining in Sanford, Florida. George Zimmerman, the captain of his neighborhood watch program, was out in his vehicle doing his sweep of the neighborhood, as was his custom. Trayvon Martin, who was staying with his dad in the same neighborhood, left his home to get some candy and a drink all in this same time period. It seems that Trayvon was returning from the store because the candy, Skittles, and a bottle of Arizona Tea were the only things the police reported that they found on him. At some point, Zimmerman has Trayvon in his sights and calls 911. The very first thing he tells the 911 operator is that they have had burglaries and break-ins in his neighborhood, and that he sees a suspicious looking guy walking around in the rain looking at houses. The 911 operator then asks Zimmerman is he was white, black or Hispanic. Zimmerman answers back that the guy is black and wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
