About Galen Fries

I live in the Northwest but am originally from Upstate NY. I'm married, have three kids, a cat, and a couple of plants.

I've spent 25+ years in either the active Army or the Army National Guard and been deployed to Iraq twice. My love for motorcycles has been a lifelong obsession and I've been riding since I was 9. Also, as a kid, my summers were spent with my father on the islands north of Toronto in Georgian Bay. I am an avid swimmer, power boater, and sailor.

Writing, reading, and drawing have been a stress relief for me since before a time I can remember. I don't pretend to be a great writer but I hope you're at least entertained by what I've scribbled down. Please know that I very much appreciate you taking the time to read what I've written and truly welcome your feedback.

For anyone who wants to get into shape. Having diabetes 2 I constantly search for diet tips and things to do at the gym that may increase my energy and not leave me craving the carbs. I especially liked the idea of putting food on the back burner (so to speak) and not making that your every day obstacle. Again having diabetes 2 and taking medications both pill form and insulin shots is a constant self science project that never lets up, down to every detail of every sauce I put on anything I eat. Basically eating centers around reading product ingredients labels and not even so much about what tastes good or what is enjoyable. The thought to put food in a nutrition only category is a great way to trick my brain into thinking I don't need to long for the good stuff and as you have said the good stuff is not really the good stuff. Sugar is sugar. I don't think I'll be taking the Army Test but all of this is definitely something for me to incorporate and take to the gym with me or the park for running. Thanks Fries.
