About Penelope Fletcher

'My female characters are dear to me. I strive to allow them their strength and their innate femininity. As for loyalty to their emotional, romantic hearts and their sense of social responsibility and destiny, I see no need to sacrifice one for the other. Women wield an intoxicating power. It goes beyond physical prettiness to the beauty of the whole. Without the poetry of the mind and heart the body becomes a useless thing. I want my female characters to be brave, daring, and bold. I wish for their minds to be as relevant and celebrated as their bodies.' ~Penelope Fletcher, 2014

I really liked the base story, but could do without the whole "love at first meeting" thing. I found Ms. Fletcher's work through her Rae Wilder series, and continued to read all of her other works until this book. It doesn't matter what the story is, it always revolves around a love story where the main characters meet, and instantly know they're meant to be together, even though forces beyond their control want to keep them apart. Sorry, but I've had quite enough of that.

Good storyline, just sick of the cheap romance-novel style of love story.

I enjoyed this story. Ms. Fletcher did a good job creating her characters. I felt drawn towards a love story that didn't happen within the series but I kept reading in hopes. Though it did not end up that way, I still love the story and am curious to how the series will end.
