About H. Lee Morgan, Jr

I'm Lee,
As a child I've always had a vivid imagination, but it wasn't until I was in a swimming accident and becoming paralyzed due to having my neck broken at the age of 14 that I could bring my imagination to life, through writing. My life has undoubtedly been harsher than others, being forced to live in a wheelchair and all, but my imagination, personality and drive to continue has helped me to write. It's impossible to know if I'd still write if not for being a quadriplegic, but I've come to enjoy writing and sharing my passion and stories with others.

I really enjoyed the 2nd installment in this series. I like watching how Connor is always progressing, and creating new “powers” through his understanding of how all 5 of his and Sarah’s abilities work. I am usually into books where the female leads are powerful, sarcastic, and generally bad-ass (Kinda like a more grown up version of Kara). This series is a nice break from that. The focus is on the family, Connor is often the one leading the group, but he relies on Sarah more than she realizes.

In this book both Mark and Connor’s identities are revealed to Kara, and the rest of Sarah’s family. This places her family in a bind, because humans are not supposed to know that Immortals exist. However, it also places Kara in a position of choice as well. She has to decide if her love for Mark is strong enough to risk her death through the “Changing” process.

I loved the fight scenes between Connor and Sarah’s father, and the intelligence that comes from Connor. He is constantly pushing the limits with his creativity. I would like to see Sarah start to take some initiative too, since she is always learning from Connor and not pushing the boundaries herself. However, that is why we surround ourselves with friends and family, to learn and grow through them.

I’m off to read the next book, about the upcoming Festival! I think this is where Connor’s past is revealed and he and Sarah learn why they are so unique as Balancers!
