Rated 5.00/5 based on 7 reviews
The 63 Defense using both read and stack pressure concepts made famous by the 33 Stack Defense. It blends these concepts along with the zone coverage, Tampa cover 2 concepts, and aggressive 34 outside linebacker techniques to give you an aggressive defense that is fundamentally sound yet very simple to install. Reviews of 63 Defense: A Winning Youth Defense by Jack Gregory

I haven't run it yet, but I have used WT 6-2, 5-3 and 4-4 in the past. I really like Jack's concepts especially for the upper youth level, middle school to high school. it has great run support 9 men up, essentially there are 3 men on each edge and the rotational cover 2 that becomes a cover 3. I would recommend the book and also checking out the online clinics on www.coaches-clinic.com.

I am hard to impress, but the 63 Defense by Jack Gregory is a work of art. If the one thing that is keeping you from winning that championship is a dominating defense, you need to purchase this book. The philosophy is simple and the defense attacks and dictates how the offense plays on every down. I highly recommend this book!

Well written. Thorough yet easy to read. Plan to run this Defense in 2012 for 5th graders. Just might be what I need. Ran the WT-6 with boxing ends, but I like the philosophy and scheme of Jacks 6-3.

Let me put it this way - I have the book itself. I still bought the E-book as a second copy. That's how highly I regard Jack's work and his defense. This is without a doubt one of the top 2 or 3 youth specific defenses in existence. This defense can be whatever you need it to be - bend not break, super aggressive, flexible and complex, or very simple. Whatever you need, this book, and this defense, has.

Jack's defense is solid and easy to teach to kids. Jack is detailed oriented which helps the first time coach as well as a guy who has coached for 10 years. If you get this defense it will make you a better coach.

I am a youth coach and have been coaching for eight years. This book should be named The 6-3 Manual, it has the whole defense, who to select for what position in what order, it has the drills that go hand in hand with what you are trying to install.

It has questions that have been asked by folks running the defense and the answers are field tested. I am confident that this book will meet your needs as new coach, experienced coach, or even a veteran.

Coach Gregory has done a fantastic job of teaching and detailing a dynamic defense. In its base, the defense is sound. Yet, when you begin understanding the stack concepts the defense becomes a highly flexible and aggressive force which capable of adjusting to different offensive styles. Most importantly it gives the DC the ability to dictate the rules of engagement to the offense.
