About Howard Malis

This is my first novel. I have spent most of my working life as an Urban Planner with the City of Los Angeles and, currently, with the City of Glendale, California. I also worked as a private land use consultant and mortgage banker. I enjoy reading, writing, chess, video games and movies. I am married and currently editing my second novel, which is due for release later this year. I love the crime genre and wrote this novel to prove I could do it and to exorcise some demons. Let me know how you think I did!

Ellery Queen would have been proud of the author’s use of detail to present all of the necessary facts, while concealing the truth until the very end. Bravo, Mr. Malis!! The accurate incorporation of familiar Southern California landmark establishments provided just enough reality to make the reader feel right at home, while navigating this grizzly tale of adventure. Time to venture over to Du-par’s and enjoy a stack of buttermilk pancakes while I ponder the potential for the author’s next thriller.
