About Harry Marku

Harry Marku is the pen name of a Livermore, CA scientist working in the fields of alternative energy, whose novel is inspired in part by the characters and stories he experienced growing up in the Ukrainian and Romanian immigrant communities of the Western Canadian prairies. Although remotely settled and seemingly mundane, the people of this dying immigrant culture were larger than life, having survived wars, depression and want after risking their lives to escape across the Atlantic to forge a future in the New World. They were hard as nails, a trait well suited to surviving the harsh and unforgiving climate of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Drawing on his workplace experiences as well, Marku explores scientific and social themes in his book, such as the rejection of science as mere hypothesis and devaluation of the human individual in the present economy.

Wow! What a suspenseful and educational read. For me the style and intrigue of this book is right up there with the bestsellers of authors like Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, Tom Clancy, etc. The descriptions are vivid and the characters and locations are definitely diverse. I have especially enjoyed the background on various subjects, and this book clearly demonstrates how intelligent Mr. Marku is.

I will spread the word so that others will discover this very worthwhile read!

A well written book that combines suspense and political intrigue. Not only does the package deliver both, with good character development, it educates the reader with solid facts in a non-instructional manner.

Those who like a Tom Clancy style mixed with the science of an Isaac Asimov will not be disappointed.

Rare Earth: I am an avid Cussler and Crichton fan and enjoy a good mystery that incorporates real places and technical or science themes. Rare Earth fits right in there with an educated writing style that gets your mind thinking.
The main character "Robb" is not what you would consider a standard superman kind of hero, he is a regular kind of guy who thinks his way thru the situations he finds himself in.
I had trouble putting it down and if you like reading something where its not predictable you will enjoy Rare Earth too.
