I love Ms. Bevills Lake people novels. I've read all of them and her characters are well developed but not so bogged down in detail that reading them is a chore.
They move fast and once you start you want to keep reading to see what happens next.
They do have the old boy meets girl, they fall in love, etc, etc, but she thankfully leaves out the gratuitous sex that becomes so repetetive in some books that I end up skipping half the book! At least her boy meets girl scenarios are interesting.
So all in all, I really enjoyed all the lake people books and just wish there were more of them!

I really like Bevills books, Bubba and the dead woman and Billy Bayou are some of my favourites. This one has too much suspense for my taste. I would have given it 3.5 stars but that's not possible so 3 it is.
