About Jeff Shanley

Born and raised in South Florida, I've always been the creative "black sheep" in a family of doctors and engineers. I've been making up and writing stories for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until I read JRR Tolkien's THE LORD OF THE RINGS that I felt compelled to create my own fully-formed secondary world. The end result was MATHION: BOOK ONE OF THE MAVONDURI TRILOGY, and THE MAVONDURI TRILOGY as a whole.

Review by: Shane Porteous on June 6, 2012 :
Mathion is my favourite ebook of all time, so naturally when this came out I rushed to read it. The Folly of Etharon is a morale tale, a classic story of why ambition and personal glory shouldn’t take priority over the greater good. It fits in very well with the Mavonduri world and helps to flesh out an already interesting world.

What is most impressive about this short story is how many purposes it serves in so few words (taking into consideration the immensely vast history of this world). It strengthens the importance of the Wolven council, explains why there is tension even amongst the different Wolven clans, why the Wolven are so cautious about attacking the black city or simply invading Kanin territory.

In short a great addition to the Mavonduri world.
