“My Views on Today’s Economy” is a collection of thoughts and blogs by nationally-syndicated radio host and global economic expert, Phil Cioppa. In this book, he tackles emerging economies, Wall St. greed, governmental regulation and personal finance. The goal is for the reader to make a connection between that which is happening globally and nationally with his/her own pocketbook. Phil is a firm believer that everything happening in the world today has a direct effect on each household. In this revealing and hard-hitting book, the reader will be challenged as to what type of response he/she will have to the mounting economic pressures of our society. This book is to be read a little at a time, so that the reader may reflect upon each particular thought presented and formulate his/her opinion and response. This book is meant to provoke thought and discussion and to assist the reader in understanding more fully that which is occurring in our world today.
This book is not a book of absolute authority. It is the compilation of thoughts and blogs that the author has reflected upon over the recent history of the global economic conditions we face at this time. It is a book of current events substance, and not a book to be put on a shelf for later reflection. It is a book about you and me and how the political, social and economic forces prevalent in our society today will manipulate and control our environment if we do not respond. The book is a “call to action” for each reader to respond accordingly to his own intellect, will and discernment. The author has gone to great pains not to present a conservative nor liberal perspective, but a perspective that leaves open the door for more discussion and refinement. In no way is this book meant to be a definitive authority on any subject. Instead, it is to be used as a thought provoking piece to prime the pump of each reader’s mind and heart to activate further knowledge and awareness of the forces around us. It is a primer textbook on the national and global economy today. It is a manual of how one is able to shape ideas and put those ideas into practical reasoning and action. It is a book for anyone concerned about our economy to givehim/her the time needed upon which to reflect, understand, and remain informed of the most important issues of our day.
The author of this book, Phil Cioppa, is a pragmatist and every person economist. He does not hold himself out to be a Wharton School of Business graduate or the sole expert on any subject. Instead, he sees himself as a person who stays informed and educated on the issues and observes how they impact his and his family’s life. We know, for instance, that anyone can tell why the price of gas is affecting each person, but do we know why the possible Greek and Spanish default on their loans could be as equally dramatic for each of us? The world has become a very small experience and Phil maintains that it is this interdependence and awareness that he is called to bring to the attention of his reading and listening public. Each week, Phil hosts “The Phil Cioppa Show, syndicated into over 140 markets via Cable Radio Network, BusinessTalk Radio Network and Radio Linx. This book is another effort on Phil’s part to attempt to keep the American public abreast of the issues that face a world in crisis. He does not see the economic sphere improving. Instead, he sees a decline in the economic situation globally, yet has confidence that the correct leadership will emerge to address these issues as at other times in history. Whether the leaders we need are already in place is yet to be seen according to Phil. There is no way of knowing the greatness of a person until the historical moment of opportunity presents itself. However, greatness lies in each person, and it is this guiding principle with which Phil writes these reflections.
