I enjoyed this book. The strength of the women was refreshing and also depicted the lack of control women had in their lives in past centuries. Greed and power is always a strong motivation for men and women. Though as a mother I find myself wanting to slap Elena sensless because while she is safely off building her empire her daughter is being tortured-and lifes in jepardy. I think I know where you were going with the book that women are inteligent and resourceful but though Mia ends up with a true love in the end, which is lovely a mother still left her child to suffer
