About E.L. Torrip

When was the last time you got lost in a great book and caught yourself rereading chapters? Seriously?

I am talking about the kind of book you promised yourself to put down after this chapter and get some sleep, but you’re too sucked in. The characters have you literally surrounded, so your only way out is to hit the gas and burn through the pages.

You’ll have to sleep later. When it’s over, and I don’t mean just for them.

My books are nothing like Patterson’s, Cussler’s, Clancy’s or any other author I know of in the Mystery, Suspense, Crime and Thriller genres. And yes I have found some of their books that were good, even great. That was the past. It’s time to crank it up.

The Costigan Series of books (SCREWED, SCOT-FREE, SNATCHED, SO LONG DICK and SITTING DUCKS) are Hardboiled, fast moving and feature intricate plots and subplots that explore the dark side of Washington D.C.

Everyone has an agenda. There are no boring chapters, no weak characters and no worn-out plots to drag along three steps behind you looping through predictable twists and turns going nowhere.

Are you tired of inconsistencies, boring filler chapters, cookie cutter plots, weak character development and dialogue yet?

If the answer is yes, then I challenge you to crack open a Costigan Series book to any random chapter. Maybe try something in the middle. I do it all the time at the bookstore and have found some of my favorite books that way. I’ve also sat a lot of bestsellers back on the shelf.

Reading something fun, clever, intelligent and thoughtful is never a waste of time. Unlike a lot of people I won’t waste your time. You shouldn’t either.

The most common question I get from readers is how I come up with what lands on the page? I honestly don’t know. Maybe I’ve had an interesting life and get lost in the characters just like they did. Aside from tweaking personal experiences I can only offer up what music I was listening to when I wrote them.

Writing SCREWED I listened to a lot of different music like Ted Nugent, G N R and Seether in the background.

While working on SCOT-FREE I have been cranking music like RUSH, a touch of Elvis Promised Land, AC/DC and Eric Church Live Caught in the Act. If it adds to the story I call it out.

I don’t know if that helps everyone, but a little great music never hurt a party.
