I thourougly enjoyed reading Peggy Bechko's "Weddings on the Cheap". Her light and easy going personality which shines through in every chapter makes this an easy yet very useful read.
Peggy's relaxed and sometimes humorous writing makes you feel that you are a friend talking across the table. I really like that about this book.
I loved and am excited about some of her ideas such as asking friends to loan potted plants for suplemental decoration, harvesting your own wildflowers, and the informal yet fun pot luck idea amongst many other cost saving tips.
I was looking forward to the chapter on wedding cakes because this is one of the things I do for a living. I loved that she talks about the importance of flavors and themes and that it should taste good and leave an impression. Again keeping it simple and doing it "your way" is emphasized.
There are many good quality links out from this informational book to bargain shops on the internet. I especially liked the unconventional websites that she links to offering interesting Indian gowns and Celtic rings.
"Wedding Planning On The Cheap" comes at a perfect time as one of my three sons is planning a small unconventional wedding celebration. Peggy Bechko's book is definitley going to help them to plan better and save money.
I highly recommend this to any couple, first time or third time around, for help in making their special day memorable and affordable.
