Reads like fantasy not science fiction. But it's real problem is that it does not have a point. The story is not overly good or bad, the concept is not original. In the end I was left wondering why the author spent the time to write and publish it.

I found what Jarl was going through interesting and fun, but I wondered if the Prooth needed to be built up a bit more, I don't think (to me) they came across as intriguing enough. That said it was a nice little intro to the series.
