Jane Gilbert has written both for business and for fun. Part of her work involves community development, grant writing, and creating marketing plans for businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits. Over the years she earned several awards and has been recognized by government agencies and colleges for various genres of writings. She has published essays, poetry, a family cookbook entitled "This Taste Bud's For You," short stories, and two books composed of diverse writing genres: "I Need Music When I Write" and "Slow Dance on the Sand." These are self-published paperbacks for personal use.
She has written five children's books available as eBooks on Smashwords and they are available in paperback from the author. These are projects she was asked to do for donations or on commission:
"Loddy's Three Wishes: A Dog's Fairy Tale for Big Kids," 1995 (homeless dogs)
"Loddy Makes A Wish," 1996 (cystic fibrosis)
"Carlos & Pete," 1997 (diabetes)
"Carlos y Pedro," 1997 (diabetes)
"Piper's Wish For Annie," 2012 (asthma)
The author's books are donated to help make a difference in the world. She has donated over 5,000 copies of eBooks and paperbacks on a variety of topics for both children and adults.
Jane's experiences include writing and editing for authors (nonfiction and fiction; numerous genres).
Jane is actively compiling facts and experiences to write a bibliography of her mother, Gleva M. Jacobson. Gleva's wisdom and fortitude as an entrepreneur created a legacy worthy of sharing. Gleva was the owner and general manager of Hills Telephone Company, an independent telephone company with eight (8) exchanges in Minnesota and Iowa, from 1954 until it was sold in 1980.
She is working on a book about a vacation she took in 2001. It taught her tremendous life lessons.
A children's book about society finches,"Twitter and Coco, Busy in Their Forever Home", will be available in 2017.
