BURNED - Living Through the 80s and 90s as a Rock Guitarist

Rated 4.00/5 based on 2 reviews
A quick scan of the pages herein revealed that the contents of this book lie somewhere between a Bukowski novel and the lyrics of Prince’s Little Red Corvette. As I pressed onward, a small voice in my head got louder and louder until I could no longer ignore the question. Why in the world would anyone want to read a story about Bobby Devito?

This is the tale of an atypical wannabe rockstar! More

About Bobby DeVito

Bobby DeVito is a guitarist, ambient music composer, and writer based in south Florida.

He has been a professional musician for over 30 years, and his albums under the names LVX Nova and Stargarden have been purchased and enjoyed by listeners worldwide.

Devito is a graduate of the St Petersburg Junior College "Interdisciplinary Studies" honors program in 1993, and later attended and graduated from the honors university of the state of Florida, New College in Sarasota.

DeVito's thesis upon ambient music "But Is It Muzak?" has been published at Hyperreal.org, and is featured on the Brian Eno website.

His latest literary work is "BURNED - Living Through the 80s & 90s as a Rock Guitarist". This book details DeVito's experiences playing in bands touring during the 1980s and 19902, his success in getting signed to a major label, and his eventual downfall into depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and failure. After enduring multiple stints in rehab and a short stay in a mental hospital, DeVito was able to recover and conquer his own personal demons and made it out alive.

A great book about the not-so-glamourous sides of rock, addiction and recovery. I read it straight through, and will re-read it soon. Highly recommended!
