About Marie Hall

Marie Hall has always held a dangerous fascination for creatures that go bump in the night. And mermaids. And of course fairies. Trolls. Unicorns. Shapeshifters. Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm... Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones.

Then the day came she realized apart from the sexy bad boy she married, there'd be no vampires/shapeshifters/mermaids/fairies/or even stinky trolls in her future unless she wrote about them. More often than not she can be found roaming the wild, lush tropical forest she calls her backyard (a.k.a. Hawaii) and day dreaming constantly about her latest project.

Her Mad Hatter is the first book of her Kingdom Series.

I really enjoyed this book and it appears that I really liked the differences that other readers have hated! I LIKED the fact that the Mad Hatter was ........ well,.......... mad! I LIKED the fact that he was hot and sexual. I LIKED that Alice was already a fan of Wonderland and I really LIKED the fact that this wonderland was crazy, psychedelic, magic and NOT like the Disney film!

If you want a fairy godmother then I would ask for Danika as she has attitude. One of my favourite quotes in this book comes from her when she is thinking about her boys and Cinderella - "Why any self-respecting fairy godmother would pass them over for an inane twit who relied on animals to do her housecleaning was beyond her."

This story is crazy, fun, hot and makes reference to Johnny Depp which is never a bad thing! If you want a bit of madness in your life then read this short novella. Recommended for fans of Mercedes' Lackey's Five Hundred Kingdoms series.

Wow, this was a wonderful surprise to stumble upon! I was searching for something a little different, when I happened upon this book. At first I thought it would be a little cheesy, filled with a too much drama or awkwardness. But oh, my was I wrong. And I was very happy to be. There really is nothing quite like this book... filled with enchanting dreamscapes and quirky dialogue, it leaves you wanting more after each page.

Wonderful, enthralling and a real page turner.
I will definitely be reading more books by Marie Hall, I can tell you that. :)

Where do I begin? I shocked myself by deciding to read this book because anyone who knows me knew that I was terrified of Alice in Wonderland as a kid and even today it's not my favorite fairy-tale. But I was really taken in by the gorgeous cover model (see a theme here?) and also the unique title and premise of the book: A sexy, grown up fairy-tale? My uniqueness meter said "Yes please!"

The blonde blue eyes Disney character is replaced by a sexy, smart and cooking extraordinaire named Alice Hu. What I liked about her is that she is of Japanese ancestry and a successful cupcake bakery shop owner so you feel that she can hold her own as an independent woman.

Coincidentally the shop is called the Mad Hatter's Cupcakery-well played Ms.Hall, well played. Alice is located on the gorgeous island of Hawaii where she and her best friend Tabby have just opened their shop. I really enjoyed the character of Tabby and hope she is present in the later part of the series. Alice encounters a wily if not lovable fairy godmother who reminds me of a sweet grandmother. A fluffy white Rabbit who comes to take Alice away and...swear? hilarious! Unfortunately the rabbits who live in my neighborhood aren't that talkative, not that I tried or anything...Ahem.

So back to the novel-Alice Hu, who has always inhabited a somewhat unhealthy obsession with all things wonderland, gets whisked away to the very fairy-tale land she had always dreamed of. The problem is, she's not a little girl anymore, some of the creatures aren't as filtered as they used to be and oh yea, the mad Hatter is a sexy brooding poet who's clothing are inconveniently covering his body. Did I fail to mention that she happens to look identical to her great grandmother and she only has three days to make the hatter love her? Yea....Grab your teacups ladies and gentlemen because this book will have you asking for several refills of something hot and bubbly. The romance scenes had such a spice to them I actually contacted an ex to hook up again it was just that good. (By the way, that ex unfortunately was not).

There is a sadness and turmoil in the book that actually had my heart aflutter and brought tears to my eyes but the end you end the book feeling that was a great novel. As having family members who suffered from the same illness as was mentioned in this book, I felt that it was emotional in all the right ways and I did find myself having a few watery eye moments. I wouldn't change one thing about the book. The length, descriptions, plots, characters were all perfect. I would consider this a shining example of what a fantasy romance novel should be like ending with a clever way to tie all things together in a surprisingly non "Mad" type of way.

One of the best romance novels I have read to date. I kept pausing the book simply because I didn't want it to end. Immediately after finishing I purchased the next book in the series. If the original Alice and Wonderland would have been that good, I would have gladly fallen down the rabbit hole any day!

Let's be honest, Her Mad Hatter is fluff. But as far as fluff goes, it's pretty good fluff. There's plenty of sexual attraction between the two characters, but not enough actual sex to push it into erotica territory. There's drama, but not so much that it made me want to groan. There's a sexy male lead, who also managed to be incredibly fragile and a heroine who wasn't a door-mat. There's a little mystery, some humour, and a happy ending. What more could I really ask for in a free read?

Her Mad Hatter by Marie Hall
Kingdom Series Book 1
Danika was not your usual fairy godmother. She didn’t want the prissy princes and princesses. She liked having her bad boys. And especially the worst of them in the Kingdom. The Bad Five. This included Mad Hatter, Gerard, Wolf, Jinni and Hook. She had been warned to connect them with their mates before it was too late. Especially Hatter’s. So off she went to find yet another Alice.

Alice Hu loved her Wonderland book. She believed at one time when she was in dire straights, Mad Hatter had come to rescue her. Her Hatter, she loved him. No one believed her of course. So on she went in life, no man ever comparing to the one in her dreams. And one day she finds herself being pulled into a tunnel by a white rabbit.

This was an extraordinary story. The author takes the tale of Alice in Wonderland and adds a complete back story to it. Taking the reader from our world into a magical crazy place called, Wonderland. She has you falling in love with the disheveled sullen Hatter and at one point it had me going through quite a few tissues. It looks like there will be five books in this series, one for each of the Bad Five.

Oh my God! Being a Alice in Wonderland fan my whole life, I've always wanted to see Alice and the Hatter come together. I'm seriously completely in love with this book! It's all I expected and more! Will most definitely be reading another in the near future! You've just taken me favorite fairy tale, made a madman seem sexy and brooding (as I've always secretly seen him) and turned it into a beautiful romance with a happy ending! Is there anything else I could've asked for? I think not! I adored this book! If I could give this more than 5 stars I would!

Ordinarily, I do not read romance labelled as 'fantasy', but Mad Hatter got my attention right from the synopsis. Reading this book was a wise decision and an unexpected delight. Deserving of 5 stars for the vivid story telling that twists Alice in Wonderland without distorting it. All the while I was thinking, 'This would make a ginormous Box Office hit if somebody turned it into a movie.' Are you listening Ms. Hall? Thank you for the beautiful story.

Great job! Can't wait for the Wolf's story by the way.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Just finished reading this book, and I could NOT put it down. This is actually a 5+ star book, and it is now on my 'Favorites' shelf!!
This is 'Alice in Wonderland' with a twist. Instead of the typical re-hash of the story we all know and love, Marie Hall has taken the story and humanized it, given it a dose of reality, and - dare I say it?- some bow chicka wow wow. Seriously, folks -- some scenes rival '50 Shades'!
The Mad Hatter needs a mate, and not just any mate -- he needs THE ONE...or else he will spiral into madness and Wonderland will cease to exist. Fairy Godmother comes to the plate with another attempt at finding the right Alice; but if this Alice isn't the one, then all is lost.
Author Marie Hall has painted such a beautiful portrait of Wonderland, and I find myself wanting to go there and never come back...she was able to show Wonderland the way it was meant to be, in all its bizarre, fantastical beauty.
I HIGHLY recommend this book, and I was very pleased to see that Marie Hall has several other books available and in the works. I am officially a fan!
