About Liz Schulte

Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn't always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more.
When Liz isn’t writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between.

This story caught me by surprise, it is well written, set in modern day St Louis it is told in a way that kept me reading long into the morning hours. It was intelligent, sharp and made me think about influences in our own lives. I kept wishing I could savor it, reading a little bit at a time like I do with my Symphony Bar with toffee and almonds but I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I couldn't wait for the story to continue and bought the second book today, I just finished it and you'll have to read my review of it there, lets just say this, my nook died and wasn't charging fast enough so I printed the PDF because it had me captivated, half a printer cartridge and 70+ sheets of my best paper and I'm ready for the third and final book in this series. this is a great series I can see it easily becoming a mini-series or movie trilogy.

Okay. So I downloaded this because I was little bored and thought hey, I'll give it a try. To be honest, it started a little slow for me story wise and I got a little impatient as I was trying to figure out who Holden was and what exactly Olivia was and why she could enter people's dreams. But surprisingly it didn't make me want to put the book down or skip to the end in frustration. It's a difficult balance to maintain, but this writer maintained the balance between giving us enough information and withholding it just well enough that I kept reading.

I have to admit, sometimes Olivia's voice sounded more like a teenager than an adult so I was a little surprised that she was as old as she was even though she had an adult life. And Holden confused me at first. I thought the jump between having to kill Olivia and then wanting to protect her instead was a little fast and out of character. It reminded me of Twilight a little, but I came to accept it.

I have to admit, I was worried about if Holden and Olivia's relationship would go too fast when I read how soon their first kiss came, but again, the writer didn't go in the traditional direction typical of that kind of romance either. All in all, good book. I think I would enjoy more.

Wow! I didn't want to put the book down. I was a little confused at first, but then I caught the jist of the story and it sucked me in. I was a little surprised by some of the twists but it was all in the plan as I kept reading. Olivia and Holden are really star crossed lovers, however there is something greater in the mix. It will come out in book 3 I'm sure. I will have to read book 2 to get a better view of what is happening. Very enjoyable read and it is free.

I normally don't give reviews for the simple fact that once I start I know I'll give too much away. So, I'm going to keep it simple. I gave this book a five star rating because of how Elizabeth drew me in. She kept my interest and I wanted to know what would happen next. I also liked the fact that it wasn't about some teenage girl and her overly dramatic life. There just too many of those tpye of stories now a days. I also liked how she didn't give to much away at the beginning. I've read a few indie books that did not leave anything to the imagination, and that is such a downer. I love to read and I love for the story to build. Let me get to know the charater and decide if I like him or her. With secrets I enjoyed learning about the characters and I wasn't bored, nor was I disappointed. I truly enjoyed this book and will definitely read the follow up, Choices.
