The Collector of Tales

The Collector of Tales is about a man in a crisis of age, the choices that he makes and the infinite variations of possibility that buffet him and seek to drive him from his chosen path through life. It is set in a medieval style world where manners are crude and life is nasty, brutish and short. It is written as a series of consecutive tales, following a series of events from idea into reality. About David Payne

David Payne graduated from Kings College London with a degree in Medieval & Modern History some years ago with the idea of becoming a teacher and author. Since then however, life events ( i.e. helping to raise the nine children that he has had with his wife) have taken him into the financial services world, which he enjoys immensely, and where writing in various forms, including industry journals, has been a significant aspect of his professional life.

After a series of journeys around the UK between 2006 and 2010 and following the downturn in the financial services market, he hit upon the idea of using his background in medieval history to create a character called The Collector of Tales after an overnight stay in Darlington.

David lives in Frome in Somerset with his wife and those of his nine children who haven't yet left home.
