About Margaret Cowan

Margaret Cowan first traveled to Italy in 1972, lived there for three years and continues her love affair with Italy in her twice yearly trips. She was born inVancouver, BC, Canada where she lives. Over the years in Italy, “Mama” Margaret has been eating and exploring her way through small towns and making friends along the way.

In many regions, she developed a network of local, family style tour operators and their food and wine experts. They’ve created unique Italy cooking and wine tours where local cooks, chefs and other experts open the doors of their kitchens, cellars, farms and homes and welcome you like friends.

For Margaret that’s what travel in Italy is all about…experiencing every day Italian life and making heart to heart connections with local people. She also loves seeing her tour clients re-connect with loved ones they take their cooking and wine tours with, or re-connect with themselves. She’s seen some magical transformations happen.

Margaret is well known as the author of the Italian cooking school tour bible, Your Guide to 133 Decadent Cooking Holidays in Italy, and speaks decent Italian. With her in-depth knowledge of traveling inItaly, she’s great at asking questions, listening to what you want in your Italian food and wine vacation and matching you to experiences that give you a trip of a life time.

To help food and wine lovers travel more smoothly and happily in Italy and discover new Italy experiences for their next Italian vacation, she publishes a weekly Italy travel and food newsletter.
