About Réal Laplaine

Born and raised in Canada, I migrated south at the cusp of my career where I spent many years working in the great "state" of USA. When I finally launched my dream to write and publish, I moved to Sweden where I now reside. Coffee over here is much better than in America!
I write thrillers in geopolitical, crime and sci-fi genres - and sometimes, I just write whatever the hell suits me. My goal is to tell good stories, stories that inspire, stories that stretch the envelope and defy mediocrity. I grew up in the 60s and 70s, the "anti-establishment" era, protesting Vietnam, resisting becoming a cog in the Orwellian machine, and dreaming of reaching the stars like Neil Armstrong did. My blood still boils when I see oppression, war, injustice, abuse and inept people parading as leaders, - especially those who have access to weapons of mass destruction (which mankind cannot be trusted with anyhow). And so, my books also reflect the rebel in me. My approach to writing is simple; if I like my own story - if it gives me a rush, then I figure there is a good chance that others will like it too.

Buffalo Kid - a story about falling and rebounding
The Buffalo Kid is fictional realism, a story inspired by real people. An elderly homeless man, forgotten and destitute, meets a stranger from another world. The two strike up a bond and the alien visitor helps the Kid rebound, giving him a second chance at life. The thrill ride which ensues proves that anyone can fall, but what counts is standing up for what matters in life.
