Rev. Roxanne K. Cottell, who is better known on the web as "Reverend Roxie," (#reverendroxie22), is one of those people who have been through the fire walk called Life, without shoes on her proverbial feet, and with only the wind of Spirit to her back. She is a book author, blogger, ordained minister. She has turned hula into Medicine, is a wily (with an attitude, even) purveyor of all things weird and spiritual, is a spiritual life coach who works primarily with those who have experienced the disease called Domestic Abuse in all its forms, works with artists and musicians, other healers and light workers, men, children and yes, of course, women who want to also call themselves a survivor of one of the most dangerous diseases known to mankind - violence. As an advocate she has championed women and children for over a decade, and recently has also chosen to help the men of the domestically violated world get through the things that hurt them, all the way down to the very tired and war-scarred Bones of the Soul.
As a public speaker, she addresses audiences of high school and college students about the reality of dating violence, and tries to help kids know that the things that go on at home, the things that break them in the soul, the things that crush their spirit are the very things that they are being made whole from. As the minister who she is, she strikes hard and fast at others who share the cloth with her and who refuse to teach their flock about the reality of domestic violence.
"ROX," as she is known to those closest to her and who are part of her Soul Family, calls Southern California, which is where she was born, her "9th Island home," is the mother of three children, loves to dance and teach hula as medicine, likes hanging out with her friends and loves music and art...her passion is healing, teaching other survivors how to heal, and of course she loves everything weird, eccentric, occultic and metaphysical ...and yes, there is a dog involved, too...his name is Kimo, the killer ninja puff.
