Pursuit of Prestige

This dissertation (2002) examines Montana State University's research activity and its effects on graduate education just prior to the university's being recognized as a Tier I Research University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The study found that prominent research faculty at MSU place a high priority on the university's educational mission.
