A.J.Knauss practices emergency medicine under a slightly different name, wonders if the long arm of bureauracy could extend into the afterlife and wishes somebody else would clean out the work fridge. She is thrilled that Kirkus put ROOM FOUR on the Best of 2012 list!
From now until the end of her current army tour ALL proceeds from the sale of ROOM FOUR will go to Operation All the Way Home. This amazing group of students from Lancaster High are halfway there in building an accessible home for a paraplegic wounded warrior who also lost an arm during his service in Iraq. AJ Knauss - Room Four
Four Stars – A.J. writes a story that is cloaked in the reality of medicine through the surreal circumstances of a comical afterlife (at least an out of body event), situation. I enjoyed the many aspects of this story and teeter between a three- and four-star rating. I will say I might be a little hard in my review and accept that as my personal opinion. I knew this going into the book because I read the preview before my purchase. While I recommend this as a good read I felt the there were places that the story could have been more compelling. I feel A. J. has shown the capacity to make the unbelievable plausible and provide wit and humor. It will be interesting to see how her future offerings develop.
