About Douglas Phillips

I was born in London and experienced the wonders of Paddington, Little Venice and Church Street Markets. Life was fast and furious and a dull moment never existed. Then I turned nine. When my family moved to the beautiful county of Bedfordshire life began again only much more slowly. School life was almost always enjoyable and I seemed to float along with all that a country life had to offer. One cold winter my father built me a sled with steel runners and with a gaggle of other village kids got thoroughly soaked and half frozen all having the time of our lives racing down the snow covered hills. In summer we found other amazing antics to get up to.
I imagine that everyone has some great memories and mine are no better or worse than anybody else’s. In that sense, I consider myself to be just an ordinary human being. I grew up, went to work as an apprentice, got a trade, had a family of my own, worked all my life and travelled when I could. Then one day I found myself asking a question; “What’s it all about”?
The answers I was getting from people I knew, who then turned into strangers because they thought I was mad, did not satisfy my curiosity. I became determined to resolve the question more seriously and eventually I found myself at a “true happiness” seminar which had a session involving meditation. From that moment on I was hooked on meditation as if it were a drug. I’ve been studying and practicing meditation ever since.

My 11 year old son came to me the other night complaining that he couldn't sleep and that his mind "flitting around". I suggested a few ideas to help but like all children, he promptly ignored my advice. The next night I was ready for him and gave him this ebook to read. He read it on his new iPad which was a novelity for him but, to my suprise, he has started to incorporate the steps to a still mind into his routine. The 5 steps are very effective and the book explains it so simply that even an 11 year old can learn from it!

I wish someone though me how to still my mind when I was 11.

Great Book - Thanks Douglas!

What a great piece of writing, if this was 1970, this guy would be maharishi makesh, guru of transcendental meditation. The guru would have done well with this book, make his business a lot easier. Very easy to follow and relaxing to read. Life has taken on a whole new meaning with meditation.
Thank you Douglas Phillips, for making meditation easy.

This book came at just the right time to rescue me from a very stressful situation. By following the advice, I was able to relax and felt much more in control of the problem.
The book succeeded where others have failed by the use of concise, straightforward language that seemed to be written from one human being to another.
