About Debra L Martin

Science fiction and fantasy author who started writing with co-author, David W Small in 2006. Writing with a co-author is challenging in itself, but when 1 author lives on the East Coast and 1 lives on the West Coast, the challenges are a bit more daunting, but because we live in an electronic world of email, Instant Messenger and Skype, the partnership is totally workable. What makes the partnership even better is that David is my brother. We love the same types of books and that love naturally evolved into writing our own books.

The newest release is "The Silver Cross" Book 1 in the series, VAMPIRE NIGHTLIFE. "The Silver Double Cross" Book 2 is currently under development.

Our epic fantasy "Assassin's Curse" Book 1 in the WITCH STONE PROPHECY, was released in 2012. "Witch's Curse" Book 2 is the exciting conclusion to the series will be published in 2014.

If you enjoy Arthurian history with a twist, we have published "Quest for Nobility" and "Crystal Facade" in the RULE OF OTHARIA trilogy. The final volume, "The King's Last Word" is forthcoming.

If you prefer post-apocalyptic fiction, we have written three stories in the DARK FUTURE series, "Path to Destruction," "The Right Path" and "Zia's Path."

Debra blogs regularly at Two Ends of the Pen about writing, publishing, ebooks, guest posts, author interviews and book reviews. You can also find a complete list of her published books on the blog.

The Silver Cross was a good read. The beginning had me hooked right away. I instantly wanted to know what was next for Damon. The story was surprising and had many twists I did not expect. I read this one in less than two days, there was not one dull moment.
I love the time that the author put into character development. The main characters are strong and likable. Lacy is a detective of a secret department that hunts vampires. She meets the sexy vampire bartender Damon, who sees past what people to see who they are. It seems that Lacey may have to reevaluate her view of the world, or risk losing the man she's fallen for.
My only dislike was the abrupt ending. But, it was a definite cliff hanger that makes me want to read the next book.

I was hooked from the moment I read the first paragraph. The characters were very easy to love or hate. Lacey is not the typical female main character, but that is what makes her fabulous. Her being a detective in the Boston PD is something that really kept my attention. And then there's Damon...OH MY!! He is a vampire straight out of women's dreams. But he has a secret and it has everything to do with whats around his neck.

The world has seen vampires, but they never have been around long enough for present day to believe they really exist. Damon is a vampire that has been around for approximately 400 years. Unlike other vampires though, he is stronger, faster, and can walk in the sunlight. What makes Damon so special? The silver cross he never removes has magical powers that stave off the vampire side of him. We don't get to find out everything the cross is capable of during this story, but it is obvious that there's more to come.

The main character of the story is Lacey Gardner. She is a detective in the Fringe unit for the Boston PD. If you were to meet her on the street, she's simply a cop. Her job is actually to hunt down vampires...all vampires because she feels that they are all evil. Her sister had been taken/killed five years ago by a vampire and never found. During her fight with her sister's killer, she was thrown against a wall and apparently continued to fight in an "unconscious" state. When she woke in the hospital, details of her battle came back to her and you will be surprised by what happened. No she isn't a vampire...exactly.

So what happens to Lacey and Damon? They meet, they are instantly attracted to each other, and then it all falls apart. How can a cop with a vendetta to kill vampires ever accept a vampire as not evil and a part of her life? You will have to read to find out!
