Review by: Rhian Owen on Nov. 10, 2012 :
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, even though it's not my 'normal' genre. Although it's aimed at the teenage market, it has enough depth of character and strength of story to maintain an adult's interest as well. There is a good mixture of real and fantasy characters, from the young heroine, Nesta, to the gorgeous Wireni, the hachi which can sense danger with its four eyes and ears. The evil Skyke are nasty enough for the reader not to regret when any of them die, but you'll worry about the Huffer, a solitary and gentle creature which becomes attached to Nesta. There is suspense - who can be trusted? - and humour and I thoroughly recommend this as a very enjoyable book which will appeal to a wide range of ages.
