Dan Poynter has solid experience regarding self publishing, and I'm always glad to be able to find something new that he's published.
This book has given me renewed confidence in the direction that I've taken in self publishing ventures, along with direction to some very handy resources that I wasn't aware of, so it was very useful.
Anyone looking to self publish is likely to find something of use to them in this book.

This is perhaps the most economical and efficient book on self publishing yet.
I’ve written several books and been through much pain. I think this book will save new writers a huge amount of time and effort. However, I’m pretty sure that even the most seasoned self publishers will glean useful information.
It's probably not the only book you'll need to read on self publishing. However, if you need to know about self publishing quickly, this is the book for you!
The key issues for readers of any fast moving topic (and few things are evolving as quickly as publishing) is accuracy and relevance. Is it still true? Has the technology moved on? Does it matter?
Dan deals with these issues by writing the book at a high level. Then, when specific detail is needed he directs the reader to online free resources that have more background information and the specific details to get things done. This has two benefits: Dan keeps the online resources up to date and relevant and the book is a quick read. Also it spares the more experienced reader from details that they already know.
Personally, I owe a lot to Dan. His books have transformed my life and I’m sure thousands of people around the world feel the same way having written and published their own books as a direct result of Dan’s efforts to promote self publishing. When Dan writes a book I think everyone with an interest in publishing should read it. Thanks Dan!

Poynter’s book lives up to its theme of “faster, easier, and cheaper.” This is a quick read that says a lot in a hurry. It is not as detailed as his other books on publishing, but he has numerous hyperlinks to multiple resources. This way, you don’t have to wade through a lot of stuff you don’t want to know.
His tips of market research are especially useful. My tendency as a writer is to pick topics that have been neglected. He stresses a need to publish on topics that are known to sell, which means there are already books on the topic. His book tells you how to find out what books people want to buy and helps the writer to jump right in and give the crowd what it wants.
