Written in first person point of view, the narrator reveals a little about himself and what he does. He arrives home from a business trip to find a note left for him by his mysterious benefactor. It’s not the first time instructions have been given in such a manner. In fact, it’s the only way the benefactor communicates with him.
I quite enjoyed this story. The mystery behind the character, what he has done and the intriguing plot as it unfolds with a nice twist at the end. Any reader who enjoys the darkness of Edgar Allen Poe and the mystery of Alfred Hitchcock should read this quirky short story by Dean Peake.
