About Kate Tenbeth

I live in Essex in the UK with my son and two cats, Puzzle and Bud. I've always loved writing and have now self-published 3 books and two short stories in the children's series Burly & Grum, and one novel, 'Unlucky Dip' for young adults. I'm very proud that one of the books in the Burly & Grum series 'The Secret City' was a finalist in the People's Book Prize Awards 2014.

I will continue to write and self-publish; I've learnt a lot and met some wonderful people along the way and I have a great sense of achievement. If anyone loves to write I would definitely recommend self-publishing - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

I hope you enjoy my stories.

Kate :)

This is my favor Burly and Grum adventure and unfortunate the shortest, only 11 pages. But what a 11 page story. It starts out with Burly the Bear, Grum the Goblin, and Max the young Human are getting ready to go out trick or treating. Max is getting all their costumes ready and Burly and Grum have never heard of trick or treating so poor Max is trying to explain it to them. When they finally get started a little crying girl runs into Burly. Someone was mean to her and she dropped her fairy glitter. The friends decided to help her by taking her home but they will trick or treat the houses on the way. So they start out and as always trouble begins.

The adventure is wonderful and as always Kate Tenbeth and Rob Jones have done a wonderful job of writing and illustrating another great story. The friends meet and make new friends and help someone in need. I have reviewed all of the Burly and Grum books and you can read them all on this site.

Kate Tenbeth also gives a donation to the Born Free Foundation for each book that is purchased. So how can you go wrong…buying her stories not only do you get a fun filled story that will make you smile (a lot) you are also contributing to a great foundation.

Burly and Grum's Halloween Adventure by Kate Tenbeth
i read it on my kindle and it was cute story. I could picture in my mind what the scenes where like. The only thing I would change would be illustrations and they might be there on a actual book.
Burlington Bear and Grum the Groblin go with Max trick or treating for the first time. Max has to explain what that is as he helps them with thier costumes. They meet a little fairy who is lost and gos with them trick or treating.
Its a nice halloween story for little kids that thier parents will enjoy telling them.
I was given this ebook from Librarything and asked to give honest review in exchange.

Burlington the bear, Grum the groblin and Max all dress up for Halloween as Dracula, the Hulk and a Mummy respectively. Once Burly and Grum get the hang of Halloween, it promises to be a fun night. When they meet a distraught fairy named Meg, it becomes an even more exciting night for the three friends.
This is a nice Halloween story. My 6-year-old thought it was cute. We even loved the surprise addition of finding the audio book link at the end of the ebook. So we listened to the story again.
I recommend this quick and fun little adventure.

I received this book as an audio version and listened to it with my girls. They absolutely loved it! What a great story the author has created from choosing costumes, meeting new friends and helping each other out. Put all this together with trick or treating and what kid wouldn't like it? The characters are loveable even if most aren't human! The narrator was awesome, clear, concise and entertaining. A must read for this or any other Halloween season! Job well done!

I got this title as an audiobook from Soundcloud and loved every second of it. The story, for the younger amongst the young adults is fun and even has a lesson hidden amongst it. The characters are all extremely well portrayed, each showing their respective personalities within only a few short pages. The story itself was fun and I am sure the kids would love to listen to it on Halloween as a form of entertainment not regularly used these days. The audio production on Soundcloud was very professional and the narrator did a smashing job of creating voice characters and managing to entertain with his voice. The sound quality was high and enough of sound effects was used to entertain but not too much so that it distracts. Narration and audio production thus gets a 5 * review as well! WaAr
